Stir-Fried Green Beans with Ground Beef
Growing up in Houston, we would go to this restaurant called China Cafe on Bellaire Blvd., and I remember my parents ordering a very similar dish to this one. However, I remember it drowning in oil, this is not the case. Enjoy my version of this yummy stir-fried dish.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil⠀
1 lb lean ground beef ⠀
1/2 onion, chopped⠀
1 garlic clove, minced⠀
1 lb green beans ⠀
1/4 cup low-sodium Tamari (gluten-free soy sauce)⠀
2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce ⠀
1/4 cup water ⠀
Coarse salt and pepper to taste⠀
Heaping pinch of sesame seeds ⠀
⠀
Directions
Heat oil in a large skillet. Brown the ground beef in the skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat as it’s being cooked. ⠀
⠀
Add onions and garlic, cook for 2 minutes or until onions are translucent. Add green beans, Tamari (gluten-free soy sauce) and sweet chili sauce; stir and cook for another minute or 2 minute. ⠀
⠀
Add water, cover with lid, and cook for another 4 to 6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle sesame seeds. ⠀
⠀
Tips: I like my green beans bright and crunchy, so I tend to lean on the 4 minute side of the last part of the cooking process. You can also use Haricots Verts (Thin French Green Beans), my favorite! I also use Trader Joe’s Sweet Chili Sauce, but any brand will do.
